Lughnasadh, the first festival of the harvest. In our tradition the Harvest King, or the god Lugh, is sacrificed.
His seed will be planted again in the next cycle. What would it be like to talk to him. What followed was a man to man chat about the burdens and joys of life ;-).
My name is Lugh
(Nico, Lughnasadh 2006)

I walked out on a sunny day, when I met this guy stepping out from behind of a sheaf of wheat
(He said) I wanna have a word with you, come here sit down, we'll share a horn of mead
(he said) it's pretty damn hard being a sungod, cause there's always work to be done (except when it rains)
The green dude gets the girl all the time and all that I get is a sickle in my neck
(he said)

hey you, how do you do, hey you, pleased to meet you
hey you, how do you do, hey you, my name is lugh
Dm C G Dm
(he said) On the other hand I'll be born again, I go down as a hare and get back as a hare.
Sacrifice doesn't mean a thing if it ain't good for something, and this case it is, you know. It's kind of okay.
Now let go of all your trouble and enjoy the sunshine for a minute here with me.
the harvest is brought in, it's done, complete, just be
(chorus)

(he said)
Have you met my better half? You know the lovely lady in white dress with the red hair.
She's a threefold personality, so you really don't want to mess with her (and don't tell her I said that okay?)
Her sense humor sometimes kind of kills me, she likes to eat me like a grain.
Every couple has their good days and bad days, so its also kind of okay
(chorus)

(he said)
Sometimes they call me by other names. And sometimes I'm the one who takes the sacrifice.
Yeah, I guess sometimes I'm the green dude, but that's a story for beltaine
But don't mention that to anyone cause I always get these strange looks.
(Perhaps it's the horns, you know what I mean.)
Because now it is Lughnasah, my day, a good time to die for you.
Chorus: (2x)
